new turn signal relay
« on: July 24, 2008, 07:48:53 pm »
Hey guys, first time posting on this forum.  I've been active on the hondabikes.net forum for a while as I've been restoring my 1978 CB550K.  It's been a long road, but it's finally coming together.

My question:  I've got to replace my turn signal relay.  Are there any cheaper alternatives to the mitsuba ones sold on the retro bike part websites?  It's around $30.  Would any of the cheaper ones I could get at an auto part store work?  What am I looking for, as for specifications/ratings, for a turn signal for my bike?  Would any 12v relay work?

Thanks!

I have a couple 12V Tridon (EP35) electronic three terminal relays in a couple bikes that are way less than $30. Get em at any auto parts outlet.

Yep just about any 12 volt flasher unit will work, go to wreckers if you want a real bargain, they'll probably throw one at you for free. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Thanks for the replies.  This has been vexing me for a while.  I'll go buy one at the auto part store and see how it goes.
