Tail of the Dragon at Deal's Gap N.C.
« on: August 19, 2008, 12:50:12 PM »

Has anyone been here?? It has 318 curves in 11 miles.. ;D ;D

I just finished it this weekend, it was a blast.

For those who haven't been, it is a must for any motorcycle guru's out there.

Cheers

We have some pretty curvey backroads here in the Ozarks but not as squirrly as what I've seen at Deals Gap.

You are for sure to run into a stretch or curve that if you don't make it, you have a nice 200ft. plummit 'til you hit land again.

I was there last month and had a BLAST! The police were not bad if you got your runs in the morning and got off the main strip when everyone showed up. There are so many roads that are also worth it out near deals gap. Again the best times were during the week in the mornings. Forget about trying to scoot hard during the weekends because the LEOS will get you.

I had a pretty good ride.. I only saw maybe 5 cops, and there was a lot of on coming traffic, but not very many people going my way, so I took it pretty fast.

However when I got to the top of the mountain before I got to the "Tail", I started to get rained on pretty good..

Great 700 mile ride, none the less..  I think next time I go, I'm going to just stay the night and try and go down the other curvy roads around there, cause evidentally there are a bunch around there, just not as popular as the tail of the dragon..

On my ride through there I saw a total of 4 troopers, 3 staked out and one on the move.  This was on a Sunday afternoon though...

And there are other INCREDIBLE roads around the area.  The Cherohala Skyway is a must if you're going to be riding through the area.  50+ miles of curves, banks, cliffs and mindblowing scenery.

Also the ride through Cherokee Nat'l Forest...  You won't regret it!
