Neutral Safety Switch and other....

Well, I spent the day rewiring my 74 550.  I have one remaining problem with the electrical.  When I reinstalled the harness, I had a remaining plug for the neutral safety system.  The plug is red and for the life of me, I can't find where to plug it.  I figure I should be able to just short out some of the pins and bypass the safety system.  Anybody know which ones to jumper?

Also, cluch is crazy tight.  Almost takes two hands to pull in.  Clutch is also dragging some.  Nice clunk when going from Neutral to first.

Bike seems to work good.  Some smoke but I think it is from the carbs needing tuned some.  I actually drove it on the road today.  Nice little hop in the front wheel at 40 but hopefully new tires will cure it.  Bike started loosing power but I pulled over and it came back.  Go figure.

Been a super fun project.  I highly recommend resurecting one of these old SOHC/4s to anyone!!!

Replacing my clutch cable and adjusting the clutch loosened up everything nicely.  Clutch now works great.  Still got the wheel hop and I have to either short the solenoid or kick it to start.

the safety unity needs to be connected at the wiring loom, should be a block connector on the electrical panel. Then just connect the two wires at the clutch perch permanently and its bypassed.
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

Heading outside now to give it a try.  BTW, nice looking bike.  I have a tank and side covers same color on ebay off the same bike.  I was originally going to use them but decided to go with all black.  Probably would have went with them if the petcock off it hadn't mucked up.

okay...hook up the safety block and do what wtih the clutch wires?  tie the ends together??? isn't there a way to eliminate it all together???

Remove and discard the safety block. Connect green/red wire to ground (green). The 2 wires that go to the clutch switch will accomplish this, cut them and connect the 2 ends that don't go towards the switch together.
Avoid starting the bike while in gear with the clutch clutching.

I ended up putting on an aftermarket solenoid and a push button for the start.  I couldn't get the original one working.  I guess it was smarter than me.  ;)
