i'll be heading out tomorrow morning w/ dad and stepmom... taking the motorcycles to Albuquerque to watch the races for the weekend!   ;D

triffecpa, medic and others in the area... it would be great to meet you if you are in the area, at the races, wanted to catch dinner some night, or whatever.

i'll be back on this evening to check for replies.   :)

now the saddest part of the trip...

when dad completed the class they said... "why don't you just borrow that bike again tomorrow and compete"... dad said "OK!".

during the competition, about halfway thru, a man named clint, roughly my dads age of 58... collapsed.  My dad being an EMT immediately started CPR.  There was never a response and sadly Clint died that day... a massive heart attack   :'(

dad originally entered the contest for fun and that kinda took the fun outa the competition so he took a DNF.  we toasted to clint that night over mexican food and tried not to dwell.  the trip only got better from there.

here's to clint!... take the checkered in the sky, my friend.  you will be remembered.

wanna hit the slots?

thanks ecosse... i like her slash 5 toaster tank and the ural better.  dual sports just half ass two sports.   :D  at least i've never gotten along w/ those big chunky bikes.  they never feel stable... perhaps why my parents stuck to the speed limit pretty much religiously.   ;)

not sure if i'm supposed to say this on a biker forum, sam... but, when i posted that, that was the first time i actually teared up about what happened, remembering what was said and how we reacted to the whole situation... funny when things decide to hit you.

I'm not into the dual sports either. Or the super moto for that matter.

Like the white water buffalo but what's up with the spiked Cafe? Looks cool I guess but talk about a strong incentive not to hammer the brakes!

yea, buy the seat to preserve the nads but tie on a spiked strap-on to the tank... i don't get it either.  that one and the green one were hauled and pushed up to the show... i never saw them ridden.   ;)  my stepmom poked herself on one of the spikes, it was sharp as hell so i understand.

Hell, you're only human man, I did the same a few weeks back when I heard the news of Hurricane Gustav, where it was going to hit and with what force. My folks down there had only just moved into there homes after Katrina. I was in tears for the whole news program.
On the funny side, my Niece phoned me last night with regards to my visit, I had been trying to contact her for weeks to see that she was OK.
Her house is on stilts due to living on the edge of a swamp so no damage was done apart from a dirty great big fcuk off gator sat outside her front door ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D she was throwing everything she could lay her hands on at it  but it wouldn't move away. In the end she gave it a 45 head ache ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D she's a cop. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

this bodywork is pretty clean... better shape than mine, i'll say.
it is the take off from max's restore i showed you earlier... if anyone is interested, let me know, he quoted me 250 for all the yellow bodywork, nothing else included.  shipping would be extra i'm sure.
there are minor blemishes but a great set!
