Where to begin?
« on: September 26, 2008, 04:15:58 PM »
How do you guys start your rebuilds? What do you build-up first? I can't seem to get started. I broke my '71 CB750 down to atoms. It is completely dissasembled (that was the easy part). Just got the frame back from powder. What should I do now (motor, front-end, seat)????
Thanks in advance.

Any bike that falls into my hands always gets the motor seen to first.
That way I know what I'm facing $$ wise in the near future, if I can get her to run right and strong all good and I can concentraite on the other bits (brakes are a good thing as now its running you will need to stop it).
I like to put new tires on if they need it so I'm wheeling around a decent rolling frame.
All the rest just falls into place, if the motor is coozed then while I'm waiting for parts or funds I can work on the free stuff like cleaning and prep. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!
