Anyone own one of these?

I am going to test drive one this weekend. I am really torn here and I want some opinions on these bikes. Positive, negative, don't care.

I love this green.

Cycle World just had a great write up on that bike. Very favorable, for the price I think it's a great "standard" bike. Like the green also, reminds me of the first speed triples that came out.

Isn't that what aptech77 has? I'm sure it is. BTW, I haven't seen him lately. Hope everything is okay with him.

From what I've heard its great. I've got the 08' Speed Triple so I'm alittle biased but I don't think you'd be disappointed. All reviews are great and when I was at the dealer demo this weekend everyone who I spoke to that rode it had grins from ear to ear. Great bike and motor. I think the 09's get the same suspension as the D675 too.

This is my 550. I painted it. I love green lol. It's like a little aphid.

Thanks for the info guys. Like I said I am going to test drive a few different bikes this weekend to try and make my final decision.

Nope aptech77 has a SPEED Triple, a bigger bike. He's actually doing well, been busy, went riding w/ him last weekend.

Nope aptech77 has a SPEED Triple, a bigger bike. He's actually doing well, been busy, went riding w/ him last weekend.

Must be a "Senior Moment" Mike, I guess when I looked at the words "Street Triple", I was thinking "Speed Triple"!

My mistake.

Yeah the speed is like has a 1045cc I believe. I just don't ever see myself needing anything over 700. Really. Espically on a "crotch rocket".

i can tell you this , it's fast, (the speed triple that is)

tryin to keep up with aptech77 on my 550 is not easy, not sure if it's the bike or his lead wrist though

and his aftermarket exhaust looks way better then the stock cans

I just wish the Street Triple had the sexy single sided swingarm like the Speed Triple

Both are a hoot to drive though! The Street Triple is plenty of power for anyone and then some...but the Speed Triple has some better suspension goodies and the SSA of course hehe. Not to mention a metric buttload more torque. With an aftermarket exhaust either bike sounds freaken awesome too...nothing like the sound of a triple idling and accelerating under power, mmmm

Yeah it's been a while for me. Hi everyone. Yes, I own a Speed Triple 1050. OMG it is one hellova bike. The street triple is the little brother to the speed triple, but make no mistake it's one snappy little bike. Good power, flickable, light, just a bit less hooligan grunt. Just learn to control yourself, that's my vise.

Hey Jim, nice shots of the "Speed" Triple (I'm trying to keep it straight). Bet that 400F is aching to hit the road, soon as the conditions are good enough!

I trust you survived Thanksgiving.

Great looking Staging area too, BTW. Some choice posters, signs etc.

Just a correction on info regarding the Street triple. It is the 09 Street Triple R that gets last years Daytona suspension not the standard Street Triple. I have been reading pretty much every article i can find about the Street and Speed Triples ever since i got a good look at one. I believe it was Aptech that suggested i give them a closer look when i was talking about buying a newer bike earlier this year. At the time i think i was considering an older Daytona...

Triumph has often be called the "original factory streetfighter". It had more of a "true stripped down street fighter" styling than the monster. It came out virtually the same time as the Monster, but the monster pound for pound, bang for the buck, is no SPEED TRIPLE. IMO

"In 1993 Ducati introduced a new naked sportbike called the Monster. Since that time it has been a perennial favorite amongst streetfighter enthusiasts. In 1994 however, Triumph Motorcycles introduced the Speed Triple, based on its Daytona sportbike. This was an immediate success and rapidly eclipsed the Monster in sales. The Triumph is now the current favorite among factory streetfighters due to excellent performance, low ownership cost, and high reliability." That is Ducati's problem right there. Nice bang, but to much $$$$$.

Don't get me wrong, I like the monster, but the new one is an ugly jap styled POS. Give me the engine, and you can keep the rest. Don't count Triumph out, their in the works for something "big". Lets just say that. The Ducati Monster 696 is a joke and is not even a match for the Street Triple R.

Back to the "big" monster.....

A liter bike that's only 95hp...... 75 ft lb torque:'(

Icing on the cake, 9 out 10 monster rides around me talk the talk ......I have a DUCATI...... I have a DUCATI....

but also have 3" of chicken strip cuz there afraid to use it. What a waste. To the best of my ability, I'm more worried about using what I have to the max, of the bikes ability and my limit. God knows I have lots of room for improvement. I don't care what someone rides, just ride safe and have fun.
