Oldhondarider: I am glad you were inspired by my build. Don't be afraid to tear into that engine. As you can tell, there are some fantastic guys on this board who are willing to share their knowledge and do alot of hand holding thru the process. (And a shout out to Tim "KGHOST" who even mailed me an intake boot to replace the one I destroyed during my first day of engine dismantling! -I owe you one dude.)
This experience has changed me. When I read thru my build thread I can see how far I have come from... "OK, what do I do first?..." to feeling more confident that I can do this.
One MAJOR bit of advice. If you don't have a digital camera, buy/borrow/or steal one. Before and during disassembly, take pictures from various angles so you can refer back to them when it comes time to put it back together. As you saw in my post, you can also throw up a pic in your thread and ask the forum: "Huh?... What is up here?..."
The boost that a would-be bike builder can get from support provided by like-minded friends from around the world is mind boggling. I am thankful for my friends on here and their help. I will be glad to pass on what I learn to you and others and again, I'm happy that you drew inspiration from my build thread. Good luck with your build
