Was there a financial penalty imposed, Art? If so, do you know how much?

I received a ticket this summer and went to court after the officer who issued the summons encouraged me to do so. Although I too was a complete babbling fool during the hearing, my fine was reduced from $300. to $100.

I thought perhaps that the cost of the jury trial which I was entitled to following the hearing was sufficiently expensive for the county that the magistrate I spoke with to offer me a financial incentive to settle. Otherwise who not just make me pay the $300. as they had me pretty much like a deer in the crosshairs?

I am not sure what the fine amount was, but in PA, there is the speeding fine plus all of the extra add-ons to the state.  I figure that it was close to $400-450.  Plus loss of license both car and motorcycle for 6 months.  Also, his insurance will drop him like a bad habit.  100MPH over the limit is an automatic 10 points on your license in PA.  You lose two a year.  The DOT can revoke your license for up to a year if they want to, especially if you evade the police.  If he gets another speeding ticket after he gets the license back, he will lose it for a minimum of one year mandatory.  That seems pretty harsh, but reckless driving can kill people.

I Guess the loss of license plus the 400-500 is about what it is here in Mass too. I have definitely slowed down since that ticket, I'm pretty sure your PA speeder has too.
