autobody filler catalyst
« on: October 18, 2008, 11:56:04 AM »
I tried to buy some catalyst (cream hardener) from an auto parts store this morning and the clerk told me he couldn't sell it to me without an " autobody license".
To the best of my knowledge, it is mainly peroxide which I can buy at the drug store.
The clerk also told me that they ( government?) also pulled some carb cleaners, parts cleaners etc from the shelf as well.
Anybody else had this problem.  Sounds like the start of a black market business for cream hardener!
I don't want it to go like a motorcycle, I want it to go like a rocket!

Go to home despot or Lowes...

They sell the hardener in a (?) 1 oz tube...
Like 5 bucks or something.

And some of those chemicals they have taken off the shelf are due to their uses in making meth or bombs.

But look around.
Just 'cause one chain auto store has those marching orders, doesn't mean the one 4 blocks down the road are going to tell you the same thing.

Makes me want to bulk up on Berrymans carb cleaner though.

Must be a Canadian thing then?  I've seen others post that certain carb cleaners and chemicals are unavailable there while they are all over the place, here in the US.

Then again, I would give up the toxic carb cleaner for some of your'all health care, down here in the states!   lol

i went down the block to another shop and they were more than happy to sell me the hardener.  Should maybe buy a large tube or two.  And yes the health care thing is good but it doesn't come cheap.
