Topic: swap seat

I have a 74 CB550 and I really hate the seat. Don't get me wrong. It is very comfortable and sensible, but I really would like a cafe racer seat or a more modern looking seat. I also do not want to design or build my own as some more mechanically skilled posters have done. Anyone know if you can swap seats with say a 750 model or is their an online store that sells the seats? Bikebandit doesn't offer aftermarket seats for my model.

Corbin offers seats for the 750,900 and the 1100. I guess it might be possible to retrofit their units. But once again will that work?

What you are experiencing is what drives people to build their own.  We don't want to do it but have exhausted all other reasonable alternatives.  You can cut down your existing seat and have a local upholstery shop sew a seat to your specs for leass than $125. Use an electric knife and go slowly.  The foam cuts like butter.

We can supply all needed single parts /seat pan, hinges, foam, seat cover to build a seat by yourself. It will fit the CB500 and CB550 including a CB500 hinge to keep the seat fully functional.
The photos show a CB750 seat, but it is almmost identical to the CB550 seat.
