Looking great!

I might have missed it, but are those polished gauges or gauge covers?

Thanks!

Nice work!  I was wanting to that on my VR as passenger hiway pegs and a place for my kids to rest thier feet.  There was a kit just for that and for that bike but long been discontinued.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I gotta say that the co-pilot pegs are the coolest thing added yet.
Too bad you don't live closer, your son looks close to being as old as my step son and my youngest son as well, they could get into trouble really well together I bet. ;) ;D

finished this a couple weeks ago had it on the back burner for awhile,
when i first got this it was all beat up and the bottom fin was broken off

welding cast (alloy especially) almost always just brings up all the contaminants in the metal as you can see by the "not so pretty" welds

then you grind off the poo, and get little tiny pits, from the air pockets (caused by weld contamination)

then some more weld (a little prettier this time  ;D )

then ground, sanded, dremeled, polished, painted, polished some more  ;)

nah.. the welds were nothing structural,  just for looks ,so i didn't worry too much about full penetration, or structurally sound welds...  just filled it , ground it, filled it again

Yeah I thought cast parts had to be preheated before welding, But you know what your doing and it looks double sharp. Good job on bringing another part back from near death, I like those finned covers but I also have a finned fetish so I can't help my self when it comes to that. Hey man I didn't forget that other phoenix I promised or the vinyl we talked about, its comin' I got to get the other fires put out first.

i've only recently joined, and am greener than your cleaning solvents, so i only recently (and by year/model association) found the story of your odyssey, and i just had to say my bit...
first and foremost...what you have accomplished is beyond human.  truly, i have no words that can best what has already been said...your blessings have been deep, and your faith and dedication well rewarded.  "awesome" is a word that is bandied about frivolously, and rarely has opprotunity to live up to its awe-inspiring roots...well, in this case, it is possibly the only word to truly represent your accomplishment...
inspiring, not only of "awe", but in so many little ways, as to be nearly transparent...indeed, spiritual inspirations!
i watch the video of your son, and i couldn't help lamenting that i'm a mo-tard because my dad (who was pleasant enough to be around, but as disengaged as a worn clutch!) was the kind of guy who taught you that oil changes happen every 3k miles on cars, and here's a coupon for jiffy lube...
what you do, and what you've imparted to your son, is not only an inspiration to create, it is a dedication to persevere, against everything and all.  you've shown him something that is sorely, sadly lacking in the current culture...a hero, a role model, and above all, a great dad.

this is why i'm digging into mine...to break a cycle through a cycle.
thank you, and bless you!

well, i shed a few waterdrops over the course of reading the tale of the phoenix...so one shouldn't hurt you too bad!

seriously, i'm glad to've made your day...its the least i can do for how your story and character have motivated and inspired me!

hope to see you out there, brother!  chi-burbs aren't too far from where i'm at (bloomington, IN)...
