$1350.00 for my 550 in 1985 - it was for sale on behalf at my local motorcycle shop, the (shop) owner let me deal direct with the owner so I paid him $500 initially and then $50 each fortnightly pay till it was mine! :D

$0.00 for my 750F in 2005 - but quite a few dollars since then "doing it up"...!  ::)

1979 CB650PZ was birthday prezzie from my son, when I found out he paid $1300 for it I paid him back the money, he paid way too much for a basket case in 3 boxes...cost so far $3000 and rising.
1982 CB650 Custom, bought it for $1200 for my partner but she is too short to ride it, I'm keeping it as a daily rider , still getting it perfect but it is a fun machine and last of the SOHC 650 Hondas.
Bought her a Suzi GSX400L with blowen head gasket for $300, arrives next weekend.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

$1500 for my near new 14,995 mile Original Orange paint 74 550K about 2 months ago and road it home. Always stored inside. That might seem high to a lot of you but we don't have as many bikes down South as you do up North or out West to choose from. Tattoo

For my 73 CB 750 (project Excess) I traded a cement saw I found on the side of the highway here in Columbus to one of my fathers friends.  74 CB 750 parts bike free locally on craigslist, and the 76 CB 750 F I just picked up $300 with a ton of tasty parts.  Always looking for a great deal, somehow hey end up dropping into my lap....

$300 - not running, froze up (rear brake was too tight), no title, bashed tail light and fender, shredded seat, well you get the idea. But it's damn fun to tinker with and one day I'll get it going.
Like Tatoo said, there aren't that many down here in Dixie.

Paid $1300 back in '99 for my 550 so I could keep up with my girlfriend at the time who had a Norton Commando. Her Norton wasn't reliable so she ended up riding my Honda all the time. After a few years we split up and she attempted to weasel my 550 away from me for nothing saying, "I never rode it". Yeah, No. Fast forward 7 years, I'm still loving the hell out of this bike, and my current girlfriend wants to move on up from her '73 360Twin!  I don't blame her, my 550 is riding better than ever.

I only have 5 sohc CB750s now. I had 16 of them 4 years ago.

In 2003 I paid $150 for my CB750 K0 engine and bare frame.

In 2000 I paid $1,000 for my 1 owner CB750 K8 with no exhaust and ripped seat.

In 2001 I paid  $750 for my CB750 K4 and pushed it home 5 blocks, (oil pan drain plug was stripped) Replaced the oil pan and was on the road that day driving not pushing.

In 2002 I paid $750 for my CB750 K6 not running but had a spare low mileage K2 engine with it.

In 2007 I paid $1200 for my CB750 F3 that was freshly painted and road ready.

I have spent thousands on these bikes since. Why, you ask ? Because, I want to restore, to original condition, as many of these bikes as I can.  I like them.

They are not all the same!

Nothing is of great value until it is finished.

I paid $1600 plus tax in 1973 for a new K3 that I am just now getting back on the road after fresh pistons and a good cleaning.  Since then I have paid from $100 to no more than $800 for running bikes.  I have always been able to double the purchase price when I sold a bike with very little or no added cash.

My wife surprised me on Christmas morning with a motorcyle picture frame and a set of keys taped to it. I spent a couple weeks looking at a bike I thought would make a good build, but my wife said "We don't need a project right now." Me, being me, respected her wishes but not with out subtle (I am told not so subtle) hints. She picked it up while I was away on business in the middle of December and stored it at a friends house.

1974 CB550 for $350. The bike was in running condition, but needs work.

$1800 cash new in 3/75, probably about 2+ times that since, and 4 to 5+ times that coming up. What a great way to blow alot of money.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

mine was free and only maybe $100 into it so far, maybe a bit more. It was running, but really poorly and has the usual frozen or at least stiff breaks that you get when a bike sits outside, kinda under cover for like 10+ years
k8 project, a long way from done.....

I paid just over $2000.00 for my 350f from a bike shop already to go. more than likely another $2000.00 in stuff that I've done to it.
