Bill, I rode one exactly like that - same color, year, and condition in May of this year at Deal's Gap. It belonged to a friend of mine, Frank Tarpley. The bike had tons of torque low and middle, but no hit up-top like the Kaws. It was a bit on the shaky side - vibrations were felt at cruise and above. I'd put it into the Yamaha XS650 shake/vib category. They are awesome machines and I'd love to have one. Infact, that is exactly why I rode it - because I had wanted one.

On the same ride, Allen took his 1974 GT750 buffalo.  I rode the Cobra to the Fontana dam and then we switched on the ride back - my first ride on the sweet 2 stroke, 3 cylinder, water-cooled 1974 Suzuki 750. I fell in love with that bike in less than 20 miles.
That was end of May -
By the end of July after watching eBay daily for 2 months - I found one in just the condition I like them - "dead and ready for burial" -

Did you know that the GT750 is actually a 500 twin with an added cylinder? Seriously. Many of the top-end parts are from the GT500.

           You know, I can appreciate the fact the 500 twin was a milestone (I guess you'd say) and all that. I really didn't know much about the history of them. I remember them coming out, but for some reason, all I remember them being called was Titans. Makes me wonder why Suzuki didn't try to build it to have, at least, some power on the top end also. I've got a buddy locally who has restored 2 GT750s and has another one he's slowly working on as he can (he has also restored 2 RE5s and they looked mint when he was through & he has another one that he will be working on as well) and they are NICE when he gets through with them (not as thorough as when you do one, but pretty close. :) I've never ridden one myself, but I've heard lots about them. I have to tell you though, I never knew (or would have even guessed) that they were actually a 550 with an additional cylinder. Never had a clue. I am amazed that I had never heard that. I WILL be looking forward to seeing the workup on yours. ;)      Thank you for your input Gordon, Bill

Many of the parts? How many parts are there on the top end of a two stroke besides the cylinder head ???

I think what he was getting at was that its a third GT500 Piston, cyl and head added to a wider block to create the 750.

I think the 750 is 2 LH and 1 RH 500 piston but i may well be wrong as its been many years.

One common failure that comes to mind was the clutch outer has a "band" round it that can disintegrate if clutch is abused
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!
