if i dont hook up my speedo, tach, and stem cap lights back on my bike ( end up using a digital enduro style speedo) will it effect my electronics if the gauge wires and stem cap wires are not hooked back up?  do they need to be plugged in to complete a cuircuit?

Make sure the loose wires don't shot and you should be fine.  You'll save a handful of watts which your digital gear may need.  The 550 charging system doesn't have a lot of budget for add-on accessories.
