hey all... hope everyone had a great thanksgiving!... this is my first post in 4 days!   :o ;D

anyway... elizabeth and i are trying to get ahold of several bottles of LAPPONIA.  it is a Finnish cloudberry liquor made by LAKKA and out-of-this-world-tasty!  when we were in iceland and sweden a year ago we picked up a bottle in the iceland airport, found a recipe when we got home "call of the snowfields", decided that was "our" drink, and now we need a few bottles for our signature cocktail at our wedding reception.

we've found it available on the world wide interwebs but cost is outrageous... about 150 for 4 bottles after all said and done... not cool.

which is why i'm here... trying to schmooze someone here into purchasing and shipping (hopefully, much cheaper.  ;) )

thanks for the help!

found this...

Lapponia Lakka is produced by Scanfrentz Ltd in Finland. As of August 2001 Lakka is exported regularly to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Canada, Spain, Latvia and to some other countries with less regularly. In Canada Lapponia Lakka is listed in two state monopolies, Newfoundland Liquor Corporation and Liquor Control Board of Ontario.

Send Egil a PM.  He lives in one of those countries.
Shipping is going to cost a lot, though.  I have a feeling $150 for 4 bottles is not bad.  It's going to be heavy.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

yes, i did find it a bit cheaper... a certain distributor will ship it no matter the weight to anywhere in the UK.  i just have to get it from there to here.

but yes... shipping seems to be the kicker.

i support smuggling.   ;D ;D ;D     or if someone is planning a vacation... it is much cheaper at duty free... about 1/4 of the price.

fuzzmeister... post up exactly what you would like and i'll see if i can get it from that same cheap ship to UK website i was talking about.
the more we can get shipped at once the better!  perhaps we can get it to someone in the UK for cheap, then bite the bullet on overseas shipping.

i've never shipped glass much less alcohol... is this going to be impossible?

Hmmmm....LCBO eh? I got a buddy who orders stuff all the time. I have rather simple tastes and can get my Wisers Deluxe anywhere....but he orders Finnish Liquor all the time (he spent a few months there and somehow thinks that makes him an honourary Finn and too good for our local hooch!)

Not sure how I could ship it from here to there though....Let me see what I can dig up Heff.

If it comes anywhere near the UK, It'll quadruple in price even before shipping to the US.

Have a word with Juha (Lieno on here) He's in finland.

If you like Bourbon, try Bookers.  Unlike anything you have ever tasted, Booker's is one of the only uncut, unfiltered, straight-from-the-barrel, bourbons available today. It's bottled at its natural proof of between 121 and 127, and aged between six and eight years.  I love that stuff!

Hey Heff, I tried to look at the LCBO website to see if we can order it up here. No luck yet...but I will try to call them later.

BTW, in Ontario all liquor sales are done through one single agency and that is the LCBO or Liquor Control Board of Ontario. So instead of having 15 different liquor stores like you guys do (ABC liquor etc) we only have the one type of store although they are on damn near every corner.

Oh yea, one other thing....liquor is HEAVILY taxed in Ontario so what you save in shipping you may pay double in taxes but I will let you know what I find.
