I've been cheating on you
« on: December 08, 2008, 12:29:30 PM »
As some of you know, I recently moved to California.  I didn't sell the 550, but had to leave it behind until such a time as i can ride it cross country or perhaps just leave it on the east coast as a way to get around back home.  In my searching I couldnt find a decent sohc 750 for less than 3K and my desire to locate a more touring capable ride led me astray... to moto guzzi.

found a 76 850t3fb LAPD model for 2K and grabbed it.  The bike and the online support community remind me a lot of the honda, and I am learning a lot about bikes in general from my guzzi research that i will hopefully be able to dispense here when needed.

just couldnt go on cheatin without letting you all know.  pics to follow once i clean her up a bit more.

Doesn't really matter what you ride, as long as it's old and on two wheels. Enjoy it. ;)

First you leave the East Coast for the West Coast.  Then you go Guzzi on us.  What's next?  A sex change?

I think that the expression is 'rarer than rocking horse manure', Bert. I cannot remember ever seeing an old Guzzi here in BC. A friend bought a Norge last year and to say that the dealer support is underwhelming would be an understatement! I guess that historically they've always had to compete directly with BMW, so it's no wonder they have never made an impact here.

At least you're riding while you're cheating.  I've been cheating on this forum when I am on the Taurus Owners Club forum, and have been working on my new used Taurus instead of riding...  and it's 75 degrees here today ???

"Taurus Owner's club forum"???  Let me guess...everyone uses fake names so no one will figure out who they really are? Anonymity is a great thing!! lol...I am allowed to knock Taurus's as I used to own two of them. One was the wagon ('95 so the old body style) and I had the jump seats in the back so I could seat 7. That thing actually towed really well!! Too bad the underside was really rust prone. I mean, should an oil pan really rust out??? Not only is it full of oil but it also had a slight leak so was generally oil covered on the outside too!

If it wasn't for the ecological issues that would be really quite funny!!

Nice Guzzi, I almost ended up with one myself and still wouldn't mind finding one.
I've see a nice Cafe job done with those old 850T's too!

BMW copied Guzzi but their jugs sagged.  ;D

There are some great vendors for old Guzzi parts.

http://www.guzzino.com/motoguzzi.html

http://www.moto-gizmo.com/parts.html

and again the Canadians win,
I'm pretty sure this is the same fellow I contacted to get some old Duc parts.
Heck of a nice guy to deal with.
