Here is the bike when I purchased it. I just started tearing down the bike, I'm going to take it all the way down to the frame. It's going to be a ton of work, but I've got all winter. also, many of the parts I stripped off the bike, I'll be selling, so If anyone is interested in 1977 750k parts hit me up.

mounted a supersport f tank on. i like it so much more than the k tank

Whats your overall goal with the project? Cafe?

overall goal is to turn it into a cafe inspired bike

i will be selling the seat, and it is in perfect condition
it was only used a few times

Sweet. Looking forward to your progress. I too am building a 1977 cafe and must say there's a lot of work going into it and Im hoping to be done by March so I can ride next year. I've found that after the frame is stripped and ready for paint, things feel like it's going slow, but after the frame is painted and you begin mounting parts back onto it, the process seems to speed up as the build progresses. I've had a ton of fun along with a lot of sweat so far.

No real progress on the bike, as I'm waiting for parts to slowly come in.

cleaned up my shop/studio this weekend and I got a new workbench for Christmas!

My newbesence seems to be getting the best of me.
Any help is good help, so I would appreciate any input.

1)So i have this 4-1 exhaust, I think I can make fit, but without the collars and flanges. My question is . . . Do i need the collars and flanges?

2)I switched out the orig carbs for carbs off a 73' that i have cleaned and rebuilt now when i went to put them on the bike the intake manifolds/boots are to big so there isn't a good seal. If i take the intake manifolds from a 73' will it work?

BIG NEWS . . . friday afternoon I got laid off, which means, more time to work on projects and less money to work on projects

Today I started mocking up a seat pan, here are some photos of the progress . . .

Drawing/Idea I started with

Mocked up with card board and duct tape, I was trying to be resourceful

Also, got my throttle Cables in, and I can't seem to remember where the pull/push cables specifically go. and also how to attach these ables to the throttle housing

The cables have to be in stalled separately. I did the pull (opener) cable first as it has to spin around to screw into the throttle assembly. The push (closer) cable is easier to install with the captured nut on it. I also routed the cables under the coils instead of over as the PO did.
...But I really want to discuss your seat decisions. Are you going to retain the width and hinge arrangement of the original? I am wrestling with the choice of cutting off the hinges and lock mechanism to make the seat narrower. Your shape looks good, will you cover it with fiberglass to make the little tail thing?

Not sure if I follow what your saying, where does the pull screw into, there is no threading in the assembly to screw it into.

Yep all the little hinges and nibs are coming off. The seat pan and tail will be fiberglass eventually. Hopefully it will turn out the way I like as this is my first attempt

Today . . .

-Got my intake manifolds on finally

-Got a new gas cap for the tank

-Need to clean and seal the inside of the tank

-Bondo'd the dents out of my tank

-I'm having keys made as we speak(type)

-New throtte from motion pro on its way

-New petcock on its way

-20 something feet of 5.5 mm fuel line on its way as well, I'll have tons of extra if anyone is interested

IT WILL RUN BY SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, looks awesome man! I've got a 77K I'm working on myself, unfortunately...I have no access to a Garage so I have to wait until the weather gets a little bit better

Looks awesome though, keep up the work and keep up the photos, helps give me inspiration.

I just cleaned and resealed my tank with Por15

drying it out before sealing it

Chopped the old seat support off

Heres a moc up of what the new tail will look like

Some new progress. Finishing up the tail section. Made a bracket for the Speedo. Got it started for the first time since last summer.

Getting close to completing the tail.

Fab'd this bracket so I can run just the speedo.

At first I didnt like the square headlight, until I saw the last picture. That all melds well together.

I kinda just wanted something a little different, so thats why I went with the square headlight, plus i think it definitely melds well with the F tank and the tail I'm fabing.
