Not something I need to know within a short time frame, mind you. Thing is, I've got a 77' CB750A that HAD a Windjammer on it and so, the headlight and mounting is gone. Now, I've seen a few of the mounts on ebay and they usually go for more than I want to put into it. My questions are, is there a reason that the mount is so different on the 750A? And, If there really isn't a good reason, anybodt know if the mounts from a 750K/F would work? I mean, push comes to shove, I'll just get some aftermarket pieces and mount a headlight on it. I had thoughts about putting a Windjammer back on it, but that sure is a lot of weight, you know?

                                   Thanks guys, Bill ;)

I felt the same way about the mounts for my '77 K model cb750. I kept trying to go cheap. After trying a few different kinds of mounts I ended up with some '78 cb750 Automatic headlight mounts. The problem with those is that they positioned the headlight(stock) up too high so where the bucket and the ignition switch clash. You can't mount the headlight. It sucks too because it is just barely.
I am keeping the mounts though. I decided to go without gauges and removed it all and am going to relocate my ignition switch.
From my limited experience with trying to mount my headlight it seems that even the smallest differences are kind of a pain.

the headlight mounts for the 69-76 K, 77-78K, 75-76F, 77-78F and the hondamatics are all different shapes. Theoritically they will all work but there may be interference issues since the headlight buckets between all those bikes are different as well.

Honestly what is wrong with a pair of brand new $12 cheapies from ebay or jcwhitney?

I was thinking about that too, Geeto. :) I mean those sticking mounts that were meant for the 750A, can end up being quite costly and the ones like JCW has, would work just fine, I'm not trying to do a "Complete" resto here. I'm just wanting to get it together, get it running good, detail it somewht and Ride! 8)

G'Day Bill, that reminded me of my first CB750F2 (very early days of EBay) I needed headlight brackets, my bike had been fitted with an aftermarket fairing when almost new and the PO threw away the OEM brackets, and they were (then at least) as rare as rocking horse shiit.

I never found a set, the ones that came up on EBay would go for over 100 bucks, (which I would have paid, but I didn't have a snipe program, so got whacked) DSS didn't have them, and neither did my Honda dealer. When I sold it, it still had those crappy aftermarket mounts on it.

You couldn't use any other Honda mount (I tried, I've still got several sets) because the headlight bucket was so big. Yeah, I could have changed that too, but I wanted to keep it original.

By the time I got around to restoring my current F2, I was a member here, and got a lot of help from Mike Rieck, (wiring loom, sidestand, grab-rail and some other stuff I've forgotten) Sean Condon (head, front fender, headlight ears and heaps of other stuff) JTB, and quite a few other guys, so keep asking mate, this site is full of good people, and someone will have what you want for the right price! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
