spokes, rims , powdercoating
« on: December 30, 2008, 10:53:02 AM »
using a cb360 hub, im wanting to put on black spokes and black rim, Ive powdercoated the hub, I dont have the ability to coat a rim, I can do the spokes, So my question I guess would be do I coat up to threaded part on spokes, then theres clearance issues with holes on rim, I expect to chaff out the coating on  those holes (hub) . the rim I have searched through some threads but still cant figure out do I have to use  a honda rim, can I order a black anodized or pc rim new??  This prob sounds stupid ive done a lot on bikes  but other than true wheels on a dirt bike  or tighten loose spokes thats  my total wheel experience,  ive never laced a wheel.  Also how do I find spoke size?  thanks jeep. ,

shoot me a pic of your rim... and your spokes.

Then shoot me more pics of that silver XS.

I'll help if I can.

How big are the spoke caps that are going in the rim??

Will they fit over the coated spokes? Even past the threads?

the spoke that were on this rim (18") were so bad I cut them off, thinking it would  be easy and cheap to replace (slight missjudgement there). Im just wondering if I PC new  spokes if theyll clear the hub holes, Ive given up on the idea of a new rim, im trying to put this together for 1500. or less. Ive got two other identical wheels but there 19's , id really like to stay with 18" . thanks.

Well your only other option besides getting custom thickness spokes, is to drill out the pilot holes in the hubs. Maybe to match that drilled stabilizer rod??

I've coated rims and hubs before but not spokes along with them....

Easiest way for me was to coat the rim, check the caps, then the hub and check the pilot holes. Sadly I've not PC'd spokes before.
