I guess this goes for me Seawebb. Man, I'm feeling real bad. With my comments I didn't want to piss anybody off. I've followed all the process of your restoration and turning that rust heap into the bike you've showed us is a labour of love. I hope mine turns out so well at the end. It's been almost a year since I bought it and still the engine is disassembled and the parts not yet painted. I reckon it will be ready for next summer, so at the end it will be a 2 year process. This things take long, but I understand that riding session is here and you need it for the wife. Why do you have to give any explanations? IT'S YOUR BIKE. Period, do what you have to do. I thank you for sharing with us all the resto process.

I know you've done a lot, you've been through a lot and I know that you're glad that it
is finally finished. You've done a hell of a job there and have the right to be proud of your

Can't add anything to what Bill has said. I've been following your progress since the beginning and just wish mine will turn out as good as yours.

I bet is has ended up as an expensive experience -as mine is becoming-, but a lot of fun along the way. Thanks for sharing the experience and the information with us.

That’s a nice looking restoration seaweb you’ve done well to finish it in such a relatively short time even with the engine problems (I’m pleased to hear it’s been resolved) I’m hoping to try start the engine on my 3 year project in a week or so but I’m hoping I don’t have any issues like you had! I’ve enjoyed reading the progress reports of the bike and seeing that other people also get hiccups has kept me inspired to finish.

I thought I got a lot of people looking and asking questions about my 750.
The 350 gets 10 times the attention and stories.

When ever we stop, someone always comes up and tells us about (their 350) or a story about one they rode when they were younger. Seems every one has some sort of story about these old leg burners

Well that didn't take long

We went out riding around the Island twice today. She's still a bit hesitant "the wife not the bike" but she did very well both times..........
that is until pulling into the driveway. I went in 1st and parked.....wondered what was taking her so long. Came up the driveway and there she was on the ground "both of them". She had stalled it comming in to slow and over it went. &^ck!!!!!

Broken front brake lever and a slightly bent headlight ear. No real biggy, but they both looked so sad just lying there.

Sent some forms and photos of bike into the BC Insurance company a couple of weeks ago for collector plates.
I received a letter today saying I passed

Now the insurance will be a lot less....and there is that cool factor

So what is the criteria for these special plates up there? Age of bike?....Something else? I think anything that gets a guy a lower rate for reg. or insurance is good.(more money left over for parts, beer,etc.!!) Great job Seaweb!!! Post a pic of the plate when you get it.

Here's the rules up here

* Bike needs to be 25 years or older.
* Is in, and will remain in a condition that makes it of significant value to a collector or exhibitor.
* Has been maintained or restored, and will remain in, a condition which conforms to the vehicle manufacturers original specifications with the upgrading of brakes, brake lights, or head lights only.

* Will be used solely for pleasure purposes and will not at any time be used for driving to or from work or school.
* Will not be used 1/2 hour after sunset or 1/2 hour before sunrise unless vehicle is equipped with headlights, turn signals etc. (this bike does)

* There can be no blemishes on any paint or chrome.
* Handle bars and seat must be original
* Tank badges must match and be perfect

I think the insurance for it will be under $180.00 per year instead of $700.00+

Yep - nothing like BC motorcycle insurance, and I mean NOTHING. I'm pretty sure BC is the only province in Canada with this sort of insurance available. Sad thing is my 550F would qualify, if I put all the original bits back on that are sitting in my basement.

3 years running, not bad

I decided to do some stuff on my wifes CL again. It all started innocently enough with a bit of paint stripper to remove the clear coat I used on all the aluminium parts?
One thing led to another and here I am.

The starter from the get go had issues, but it has become a "nonstarter".
Here's the video, should I just change it out or is it something more sinester?

Have done a bunch of searches for this, and here is a comment I saw a couple of times..... Starter problems are usually the rollers etc in the sprague clutch behind the generator rotor.

Thing is no one ever came back to a thread with a better description? I'll keep hunting

A little more detail: its just like the CB750: there are 3 sets of a spring, a cap, and a roller. While it may be just the roller(s) thats bad, one will usually replace all 3 since your in there. The springs lose their guts over time and can't push hard enough, and the rollers lose their whatever and don't do their job. The caps are probably reusable.

Just pull the rotor, replace those parts and 999 out of 1000 you're good to go.

Not a skill I have had to learn yet.
