What a time for this sort of topic to come up...here i have been debating building a cross between chopper and drag bike for the street for awhile now.

This style is becoming more and more popular for everyday riders as the creative juices allow for both track days and light to light jaunts.

I myself have a frame worth contemplating.

My new bracket and fast street bike rig:

I have Allen Maiver's laydown h2 frame in my attic, supposedly that frame has several local track records set back in 1972-73 in the New Orleans area. when I found it he was using it as a sign for his motorcycle shop.

I don;t have any pics of my previous rig, a 1976 kh500, but I still have it. It is in 1 million pieces right now but I just got a set of NOS TNT chambers from a good friend of Tony Nicosia (the TN in TNT).

Lol...Chances are if i do go about it it will be a rigid tail using a sport bike front end and wheels..still working on the design though...

I made a set of struts for my bike.

GOOD: The lowered look was really cool, and it gave me someplace to mount wheelie bars.

BAD: It was like riding a jack hammer...

if you are going to do it, use a 76+ kz900/1000. The interweb is choked with zx9R front end conversions for it and they have excellent parts support. Mine still has lights because the fast streetbike class I am planning on running requires it but you can bet the bike will see sunday street exercise as well.

I have been warned by our crew cheif not to divulge too much information. It is a 1300cc Hayabusa engine, heavily turbocharged. 600 + horsepower. Modified front frame with custom rear subframe. The key to going fast is to use electronics to control turbo boost. Click this link  http://www.orientexpress.com/images/Slideshow/mediagallery.php  to see a build up of a 425 hp street / drag Hayabusa.   This is in 4 parts.

There's a couple guys around here who drag busas. One is boosted the other is N/A. I myself prefer the zx-14 but I have never actually run a busa down the track.

Used to run a TT'd Duc though.

I won't share I promise. I'm just retired (from drags anyway) and interested is all.

Has that monster ever been on a Dyno? The results must be mind boggeling!!!!
And if so could you post the results over on the SOHC Dyno run link for a reference?
Apples to oranges I realize...

Sitting around the machine shop (drinking beer) one night, and a guy rides up on his kitted Hyabusa. One of the guys says my old turbo surely could whip that. My eyes almost bugged out when I heard that! I just shook my head and told him "you just have NO IDEA how bad assed those things are"...

Hey, It still would be pretty cool to give a busa a serious run with a 750 as quick as yours was..

Average rider, good holeshot for you.. could end up pretty even... ;D
sprcially if they made the fatal flaw of backing off cuz they think they had you...

Nitrohunter, what was the quickest you ever saw a 750 singlestick run??

Mr Ruppel, Skips bikes will need to pull out something special this year if they are to beat the NLR bikes.

Seb and Walters ET and terminals records at the end of last season were just a taste of what will be coming this year.

Let's hope this year produces some really good racing Ken.

The timing clocks were very "happy" at the last race of the year. There is some very tough competition in that class. Lots of nice people.  Thanks for the good wishes.

Quickest SOHC I personally witnessed was a carbed gas turbo 970cc. It ran a 9.10 at 142 in Sacramento.

I'm know there were plenty of quick ones out there but don't remember what they ran.
We won't count the Nitro bikes here.

Eraldo Ferracci (yeah, that desmo guy) ran a SOHC turbo.

I have some very old phone notes from him here:

8.60's @ 168 mph. on 6 1/2" road race tire.
1020cc, 72 bore X 63 stroke. 9:1 Arias pistons. Stainless Steel top ring.
F-2 cam.
Bike ran 8-12 mph faster with aluminum rods vs steel (with no other changes), his opinion was because of their elasticity.
28 psi boost, 32 ign lead.
Head? If he said I didn't write it down.
5 speed w/ air shifter, GL 1000 clutch, shift at 9,000 rpm.
