Craigs List ad- What city would be best?
« on: January 12, 2009, 08:13:58 AM »
So I put an ad in Asheville and got 2 replies.  Nada.  I'm wonder where the next best place would be.
Charlotte- seems like there's no vintage action there.  Eveyone likes new.
Atlanta- seems like there's a lot of money there, and there are a lot of vintageesque shops around there.  A possibility...
Knoxville has a great vintage scene, and it's close enough to ride a 400 home.

Another point;  I'm starting at $2k.  Is that way off the mark for a good-running but not entirely stock 400?

Advice, please ~
(no- I'm not fishing.  I'm really asking for opinions)

i'm stuck 2 hours away from any sort of populated area and i always get flagged for posting in numerous cities in the state. can't help it i'm stuck smack-dab in the middle.

wouldn't hurt to try and post in every big city possible within a couple hour drive radius. the worst thing that could happen is you get flagged and one of your posts gets deleted.

the selling of motorcycle and motorcycle parts is always in a dip during the winter months. if you are in no hurry to sell, best thing to do is hold on until the riding season kicks off when everyone and their grandmother is looking for a bike to ride.

The weather doesn't seem to have as much of an effect here as the economy in general does.  For the most part, you can ride some during the winter, too.  (I put about 30 miles on today.  The roads I ride, that's about an hour)

I don't want to irritate CL folks off.  I guess I'll try Knoxville next.

Couldn't hurt.  Seems like things get lost pretty fast in the classifieds there- but it's free.

i would put the ad in both the atlanta and charlottte cl. when i am looking not only do i look all over michigan but chicago , southbend and fort wayne, in too. toledo, sandusky, lima columbus and cleveland, oh. some bikes are harder to find and require a larger search area than others and someare willing to travel to get what they want. one guy i know lives in florida and found what he was looking for in wisconsin, rode it home
