Thanks guys, the bike is more of a surviver than a sparkling example. I’ve not known a bike be so abused and neglected as this one. A list of problems once stripped include, broken piston but amazingly the bores were fine with a light hone, worn big end and crank shells, oil pump strainer totally blocked which is why the shells were knackered. Cracked crank cases, chain had jumped off at some stage. Most threads in the head were stripped, after 12 helicoils I gave up and bought another head. Front calliper totally seized, master cylinder also seized, rear hub cracked, rear footrest hanger bent, seat base rusted through, wiring chopped and messed with but, the petrol tank was clean inside! Spacer missing from inside the gearbox which I didn’t find out about till it Went on its first test ride and I had to take the engine back out. Speedo and rev counter both seized. The Alpha exhaust was in excellent condition and cleaned up really well. I must admit if I’d known how bad it really was I would not have restored the bike but I started doing bits and then found myself in too deep to give up. The upside is it’s a great bike to ride and can’t see myself ever selling it.

Wow Geoff, the abuse that poor bike took was impressive.  Congratulations on reviving her.  It looks great.

That was late last year near Gloucester.

I’m going through my phone and deleting useless photos and came across this.

Had a fun meetup and ride with the Idaho Vintage MC Club yesterday in Caldwell, Idaho.

I wish I had a GoPro to capture the scene of almost 100 bikes riding together. Was epic!

The vintage bike show is Sunday March 19, 2023 at Noon. https://idahovintagemotorcycleclub.org/

Your bike looks good and that gold Water Buffalo gives me a little lusty feel also. What was the temp that day as I gaze out my window after just snow blowing my driveway again.  ::)

Temp was 47F at the start of the ride, no too bad. I had 2 pairs of long underwear on in order to look cool and still wear riding jeans.

Totally worth it despite cooler temps, was fun.

Took her for a beer run. I've been working too much and she's lonely.

Is that an aftermarket seat?  I like the lower profile look. Where did you get it?
Not sure if I replied to this already. Texavina. Had them add more foam to a model they had on website. The original was too low.

That photo has no trees !  :D

Idaho has vast stretches of land that way... No bushes either... Talk about windswept... Better have good gear to deal with the wind.
Traditional plowing farming would lose a lot of topsoil due to the wind.

Haha yes, no trees there at Map Rock. Lots of volcanic rock, and a giant canyon carved by the Snake River.

If I had turned around and taken another photo, this would have been the scene:

Today was the vintage bike show associated with the rally yesterday. Mr Honda’s handiwork was well represented.

Cool that you have a run this early in the year. Here in NH we still have snow on the ground and salt/sand on the roads so it'll probably be another month before my bikes see fresh air!

Do they flood the fields with irrigation ditches to water them there?

This part of Idaho, SW of Boise is basically desert. There is an elaborate system of reservoirs and canals that provide flood irrigation. There are plenty of the giant center pivot irrigation machines as well.
Map showing just part of the canal system;

Lots of stop sign-free riding to be enjoyed out there, here is my CB500 out in farm country:

Central and northern Idaho have lots of mountains and trees as you would expect.   I haven’t taken the CB up there, it’s more dual sport and adventure bike territory.
