Redwood Road north of Castro Valley where the road is out.
Lunch ride yesterday with my Goldwing/Africa Twin buddy.  He stole his son's Suzuki supermoto so we both had perfect canyon bikes.

Ok good luck in figuring it out! My two cents - check under the shifter cover that the gear drum screw has not backed out. Happened to me a couple of times on my K4 - one time while riding up the Glossglockner, Austria - had to pull over remove the shifter cover and retighten the screw - couldnt shift into neutral and eventually it got stuck. Ended up using locktite once I got home. Just a thought.
Do you have pictures of the loose bolt/screw Andy?
Is it the JIS screw on the end of the shift drum ?
Or the bolt holding the lever actuator assembly?

Short ride to the next town for lunch with the wife, went the back roads, very pleasant.  Salvadoran restaurant, Casa Amaya, pretty neat.  The wife hadn't wanted to get on the bike in over a year.  I made a birthday request she join me on the bike, she said sure, we had fun.  Pic in front of the restaurant, and I believe someone said to post what you had to eat if you rode to lunch, so here you go, pork pupusas, shrimp ceviche tostada, and some mini taco things that I forget what they called them.   Nice people too, the very young waiter was digging the style of the bike.  Asked what year, when I said 1975, he seemed quite surprised.

Happy Birthday Rich, great food is often small family run places. Glad your wife joined you on the ride, Hopefully she will want to take a couple more with you, nice looking bike too. I like to frequent small businesses, they are the lifeblood of our country. Much better than a franchise. Not that franchises are evil. Read the article about Red Lobster if you wanna know what is killing business in America, classic case...

Glad you got out for a nice ride with some good with your bride.

Nice pic of Huron River made better with a SOHC4 sitting beside it...

Rich, that ride looks really tasty!!

Michelin Guide:
* High-quality cooking, worth a stop
** Excellent cooking, worth a detour
*** Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey.

We bikers can ride rather far away for a specific restaurant and their food.
I doubt the Michelin guide people should give 3 stars.
My favourite ride restaurants fulfills the star guide lines ;D ; D

Thanks for birthday wishes guys and comments on the bike.  Head gasket and fork seals starting to seep so she needs a little refresh this year.

Yes Steve, in Boerne.  I also like riding the backroads up to Redbud Cafe in Blanco or High's Cafe in Comfort.  A Kendalia burger is always worth it also.

Yes we may have ordered too much food.  I brought my tank bag for leftovers but there were none.

Does look good Andy.

K4 with a K7/8 tank?

I like the paint scheme on the tank.  Where did the decals on the tank come from?

Yes K8 tank on a K4 - seat modified to make it fit. The decals were bought over 10 years ago don’t recall from where sorry
