I have a 1976 CB750K6. My battery went dead this weekend so I started to do a charging system check. I didn’t get very far – the Green/Ground wire from the rectifier to the six position connector was broken off at the connector and the plastic connector is deformed from heat at the Green/Ground location.
The rectifier flunked the diode test, so it will be replaced.
My question concerns the Green – Ground wire. My VOM says that there is continuity (no resistance) between the green/ground lead and the mounting stud for the rectifier assembly. If the mounting stud is tied to ground, why is the green/ground wire needed?
