cb350 owners help out with project? pics
« on: January 18, 2009, 01:02:14 AM »
hi everyone, i know this question has been beat to death on here, i did quiet a bit of research but couldnent find the exact answer i was looking for. I am planning on running pods and a straight exhaust on my 1970 cb350k2 from some of the posts that i have checked out I am thinking i have to rejett the carbs with main jets 3sizes up and pilot jet 1 size up, i know a lot of people have cb350 on here with pods and straight exhaust so I was wondering what jet size you are running.. I also cant seem to find a place that has a lot of different sizes. hondapartsdirect only has 2 different sizes of each jet, so should i get the bigger size? I might just keep the air box assembly, so i guess my question is: if you have a cb350 with pods and a straight exhaust OR the stock air box and straight pipes what size jets do you run? here are some pics of my bike i am going for a bobber/rat/cafe look i guess, the bottom two pics is what the look i am going for,
I appreciate any input
thanks!

You will never get to the the two bottom pictures with a Honda.  Those are Triumphs.  ;)  (I know, you know) Seriously, I have done a Bobber or two and each is jetted differently.  Most require stock idle jets and a few sizes up on the mains.  You can eliminate all of that by trying to raise the main needle if your carb is adjustable that way.  Main jets can be drilled oversize, slowly, and in tiny increments with numerical drills or by using a micrometer on each drill as you go up.  If you like, when you find the size that works, replace the jets new with the size you determined by drilling.  That will get you very close.  Jets are available at cyclerecycleII in Indianapolis.  You will want to order off the website for best service.  Bob till ya drop man.

When I bought my 350 twin it had pods and the PO had 115 main jets in it.  It ran like crap and super rich all the time.  I put 105 jets (stock) in it and now it runs great...completely different bike and it still has the pods.  From my research I found that the Honda twins don't require much rejetting for exhaust changes and pods.  I went from barely being able to hit 65mph to hitting 85pmh easily without all the sputtering it used to do.

The bike had CL350 scrambler exhaust when I bought it which I changed to reverse cones.  When I did that change I ran the bike with just the headers to see what it was like and it was an instant loss of about 40% power.  Keep that in mind going with straight headers....and I don't think larger jets will fix that power loss.  It's the back pressure that is important with these little twins.  Could be wrong but that is my understanding....

Directly from my website:

These CB350s are so versitile that no jetting changes are needed. We are running the stock CV carbs, with the following jet sizes:
Slow(Pilot) Jet= 35
Primarty Jet = 105
Secondary Jet = 68

I have run these bike in several different exhaust and intake configurations and have never needed to change the jets from the above listed stock settings. These CB350 are not like modern day sportbikes where they are built to run at such tight tolerances.........the CB350's were a versitale machine....thats why everyone loved them.....they would run regardless what you did to them.
