500 Project
« on: January 22, 2009, 06:53:21 PM »
I was fortunate enough to pick up two basket case 500's with a wide assortment of parts from a very generous fellow member.. I've got a plan in mind for each, but only a wallet for one for now. (still have a cb500 chop that I am wiring up and attempting to keep off of the back-burner).

Here are a few preliminary pictures. Thus far I have rebuilt the swingarm with a set of bronze bushings and painted the rims and hubs and put in new bearings. Quite excited that this beautiful chrome swingarm came with the lot. I ordered the bushings from Bob at cbx international...these are the bushings that tbpmusic had advertised in the parts for sale section. They look well made and fit nice and snug.

Using an old Matchless tank, and a set of 'Aces' bars from Biltwell. These fit my brainstorm, but we'll have to see if they make it through until the end....they do look quite comfortable. Need to do a bit of work on the tank, but think it will offer the overall bike a nice lean flow.

Painted rims and hubs, with new bearings;

Old firestone's...can you say form over function!?!

Thanks for taking a look

cheers
JD

How are these firestones to ride on? Do they just destroy the handling?

If you have to ask...lol. Who cares how they handle he will look way to COOL for any one to question their use!
