Will K2-K6 RH switch fit a K1?
« on: January 24, 2009, 10:18:39 PM »
I have been watching for a RH Handlebar switch housing for my CB750K1. It is somewhat unique
in that it has the OFF as well as Hi/Lo for headlights like the K0 does, but has dual throttle cables
whereas the K0 only used one.

I know the K2-K6 no longer had the OFF position for the headlights, but would the wiring harness
for a K2-K6 switch work on a CB750K1? Although I really don't want to have to... I may have to
resort to grabbing a K2-K6 RH switch (if it will work) to get the bike on the road.

Unless someone knows a source of NOS K1 switches??

Thanks.

Yes it will fit and work but you will have to alter the solenoid wiring as the starter switch on the early one grounds the solenoid via the bars and the later feeds power whilst cutting off the headlamp

I have a later model RH control on my K1 and it works fine. It came this way from the PO. As far as the wiring the light stays on all the time, I've never checked to see if it kills the light when I start it. It's worked fine for me for the last three years I've had the bike.

It's stored a buddy's farm for the winter otherwise I'd look at the wiring for you.

bud.

OK Thanks.

Bud or anyone else that knows.

I did pick up a NOS switch for a 73-75 CB750K.

Instead of the Dot(off)/Lo/Hi my orginal K1 switch had, this one has a two
position switch labeled Off/ ON

Does the 73-75's not have a Hi/Lo beam????

Also, my K1 switch had 7 wires. The K3-K5 switch only has 6 wires and some are different
colors. Any ideas on that??

A picture of the switch I bought if it loads:

My K3 has the Hi/lo on the left switch. Wires, you'd want to cross-reference with the schematics.
Where did you score that switch and for how much?

Well, seems it may work, but it would require too much re-wiring and changing the left switch also to
one that has the Hi/lo switch on it. So... I am going to relist this one and keep waiting for the proper
switch.
