530 chain on a 77 750f

I know stock is 630. What is the advantage of swapping a 530 with appropiate gears? Just curious.

More gearing choices. Better availability for sprockets and chain. Generally a little lower cost. Lower weight so a little less rotating mass. Better performance? Maybe, hard to say.

How will it effect the gearing? Better on the street? Better on the highway? 630 oring chain is $100, 530 oring with new sprockets is $130. Seems to make sense to buy the 530, just wondering what the overall difference is. I am not racing the bike, or looking for quick accel.
Thanks

Not so much better. You just have a bit wider range of choices. On the K bike, stock gearing was 15/41. The earlier K bikes had a 48/17 if I remember correctly. So they had a tiny bit more accel but were also a bit buzzier at highway speeds. I switched to the 48/17 and did not really notice anything. So for me, it made no difference. Cost was a bit less and thats all I got out of it. Others have different opinions but I did not list opinions initially, just basic stuff that is different.

For a highway, I might stick with 630. The gearing is slightly lower. You could do 18/47 which would lower the rpm but in the earlier bikes, gas economy actually suffered. I cant say if it will on your as the later K bikes made more power than the k4 did.
