Author Topic: Need Help Dating my Honda CB550F Supersport (Read 2123 times)

Could someone give me and Idea the year my bike is? I purchased a CB550F supersport 9 years ago from a guy out of state and have since lost the title for it. The serial # on the left front fork is CB550F-1002437...I never titled the bike and am going to try and get the paperwork done. I thought the bike was 72 to 73 but am not sure...any help would be most appreciated...Daniel

I'll be nice, this time. According to the Model Guide at this site, it's a 1975 CB550F Supersport.

Check the right side of the steering neck. should have a plate with the VIN number with the build date and model date.

Thanks alot guys ...I guess I deserve the razzing for the way I posted I should have plan my post a little better.... I will definately check out all the info and see what I can do to get the year of the bike figured out..... Thanks again!!! Daniel

While you're at it Flexy, get the post the engine number as well - you never know with these bikes.

that number makes it the 2435 CB550F0 (SUPER SPORT 550 FOUR) built and it was 1975. the engine number should be somewhere about CB550E-1102500

Im heading home around 3:00 today and I will get the engine number and hopefully get back on here later today and let you know.... either way I will definately give you and answer by Monday at the lastest.... Thanks again

Well how did the DATE go! Are you a hands on kind of guy, you know you can't wait to get her home and strip her down so you can find out how she was handled in the past? Did you get to play with the carbs? Tell us all the details even if you have to make up the good parts.

You were so close the engine # on my bike is CB550E-1102942 and it said on the Vin # plate manufactured 1/75 so thanks alot for your help and I will post a pic once I get her out of my Inlaws storage.....and back to my garage...thanks again.... Daniel
