Frozen Canadian *pics*
« on: January 28, 2009, 04:42:24 AM »
Hi guys,

I just picked up a 500T and a 550-4 I plan to make roadworthy. I didn't start with a pile of parts but rather bought the two best examples I could get my hand on. I got lucky and found two original and complete bikes that have been indoor for most of their 30+ years. (I'll have a few pictures later on today.)
I was real excited when I found this place perhaps the combined knowledge will make the process a bit less painless.

Welcome, look forward to the pics. The only drawback to getting them in such fine shape is now you have to just sit and stare at them until the snow melts.  ;)

TE - I got the WR thinking i'll do some off road riding but after a few attempts I decided that supermoto was the  real rush I'm after. Last year the WR was my track/streetbike but as I'm sure you know riding sidewalks during rush traffic in downtown to Toronto may be fawn upon by the pedestrians. I had to get something that does not like the to pop the front wheel if I was going to keep my license. After 2 hours in the vintage section at the bike show I was hooked!

Mr Breeze - ya the 500t is without exhaust in the picture. I had the bike for 30 min and started messing around with it. I pulled it of just to check if i could get some of the surface rust off. The more important question is what do i do with that truck pipe on my 550?

Andy - insurance is killer, you may as well just give me the G/F's phone number and save yourself the painful move. If the insurance is mot enough motivation then how about the 6 months of freezing weather? Joking aside, ya we get the gang bang insurance rates up here. My fzr 400 was $800, F4i was $1000, GSXR 750 was $1200, WR450 is ~700. These rates are just one way crash and cry coverage I have no idea what they will want for the CB's I have yet to register them.
