Header mounting question
« on: January 28, 2009, 08:15:33 AM »
I am looking a buying a used header that looks like this:

Now since this header doen't have the lip or flange on the very end that would allow you to use the stock collars and half shells shouldn't the pipe have it's collar permanently attached like this one?

Is there another way to mount this kind of pipe that I am not aware of?

I don't want to waste money on something that won't fit.

It is a HOOKER header, nice pipe.

Convert to spigots & you will have greater choice of pipes, these will then fit right on..

Ok dumbass newb ?

I searched around and I gather a spigot is a threaded insert or collar that goes into the head.

Is this a sample of a pipe held on with a spigot or is this just screwed into the holes the studs came out of?  I couldn't find a pic of a header held on with a spigot.

Look for pics of just a head. They will look like the flange in the lower pic with about 3/4 in of pipe sticking out and same screws.

They are used from 69 -76 on K bikes

Your pipes come off so fast with that setup, some take them off to change oil(not needed with Hooker and most) or clean the bike/pipes.

We used to change the finned clamps to flat ones, they open and close easier and are clener looking (IMO)
