brown wire in headlight bucket ?
« on: February 01, 2009, 01:12:29 PM »
I am to the point to where I have wired up some neat little blinkers on front and back and am connecting all the wires inside the headlight bucket. I took lots of photos and taped the ends with little messages indicating what went to what, but I notice a solitary solid brown wire (coming out of the main harness bundle). I did some research and saw a reference about this being an unused wire. Does anyone know where it should go? I can't see anything like it on my wiring diagram.

Other than USmodels have an extra 4W pilot lamp in the headlight reflector. The brown wire connects that pilot lamp to the taillight, so they are both on together. You can ride with them (switch is in right handlebar switch assy) or have them switched on when parked by bringing the mainswitch (key) in P-position.

I learn something every day! Thank you. I guess I will just tape that wire off.

I love the search function!!

Can someone show me what this none US model pilot light in the headlight reflector looks like? I hate the idea of letting that brown wire go to waste without connecting something to it. :D

OR if you have a 77 left hand switch on a 76 bike then you need to put power to the head light switch and you can use the brown wire to Bk/Y wire

I'm sorry, that makes no sense to me. I didn't realize this was a 550 thread. I have a brown wire in my CB750 as well that goes nowhere.

Good to know I'm not the only one puzzled by this brown wire.

I just read his sig to figure out what bike he was talking about. I have an extra brown wire so I assumed he was referring to the 550. Sorry my ESP isn't quite what it used to be.

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
