1975 CB750 Super Sport Project!
« on: February 24, 2009, 03:36:23 PM »
Hi, I stumbled across this website right after I picked up this latest motorcycle. I would like to be a part of the community and show my progress so heres my story: I used to have a standard 1979 cb750 with a springer front end and lowering springs in the rear. I sold that bike to find a Supersport and build a rigid bobber. I found a 1975 CB750F supersport in the local paper for $100.00, and took it home for $75.00 (always bargaining...). The owner current owner was given the bike for free, and it sat in the barn for a while until they needed some extra cash, and sold it to me. Its in great shape mostly, though I dont know if the motor runs yet. I will start posting pictures as soon as I can, I have a couple already, and I will try to document the build as best as I can, hopefully getting help and advice along the way. I am selling the stock tank, fenders, seat and cowl, turn signals, possibly gauges, and handle bars if anyone is interested in those parts.

I am trying to resize images to work on this forum. Bare with me. It looks just like jerry's bike in his avatar, except black 4-1 header...

That went reasonably well. Anyways, as you can see, I stripped off all of the unnecessary parts, got the bars and headlight dialed in how I want them, and approximated where the ride hieght will be. I havent decided on a seat or tank, but I am leaning towards a small Sportster tank, and a comfy solo seat. I also decided that I am NOT going  hard tail, rather I will install 3 inch shorter shocks. I will be cutting the top tube out inbetween the rear tank mount, and the rear shock mount, and lowering the tube 3-4 inches to give that aggressive seating position a chopper should have. I may also install drag bars, because the bars I have are a little too swept back, not really comfortable when the bars are at shoulder height... we will see...
