Alright, last month I got a 1975 CB400F, with 10,000 miles, and I've been working on it. It wasn't running when I got it, but it had only been sitting since Sept. 08. I do not plan on doing a full strip and rebuild at this time. This is my daily rider, not a garage queen. Don't expect bead blasted engines here. (But who knows?
)
This is my first bike, and the first bike I've wrenched on. So far, I've done all the work. You guys have been a big help! My mechanic, (who I buy parts from) specializes in pre-1980 hondas, and he says it might be bored out. I know there were modifications to the clutch, since been removed, this is a possibility. I'll check on this next time I'm up to my elbows in her.
Here's what I've done so far.Got it running. (Fuses)
Unsized the front brake.
New plugs.
New battery, which fixed my charging problems.
Installed a different bank of stock carbs, and rebuilt them.
New rear shocks and springs.
Removed the PO's hydraulic clutch, and returned to stock clutch.
Misc. replacement bolts.
My future plans include:Electronic ignition*
Dyna coils and wires
Inline fuse*
Clip-ons*
Chrome headlight
New gauges
Paint
New seat
Turn signals
Dual Discs
Rear-sets
Tires
Fork oil and springs
The * means purchased, to be installed. So, that also means update soon.
