750 pistons in a 550: What to do for gaskets?
« on: March 05, 2009, 10:57:00 AM »
Hey all! I am planning on doing 750 pistons in my 550, and I was curious as to what I need to do as far as a head and base gaskets with the new 61mm bore? Also, does anyone have a link to what needs to be done as far as modding the 750 pistons to fit the 550?  Thanks in advance!

spikey, thats the link i was looking for, thank you very much!  And excuse my ignorance...but was that cometic link a reference to getting custom gaskets made? because they don't even have any applications for a 550

A cb650 head gasket.

Easily accommodates 61mm, And from what I have asked in the past the 650 and 550 head gaskets can be exchanged... But I have not done this myself so ask before doing would be prudent IMO....

I know the cb650 stock head gasket works with cb750 pistons, 'cause I am running '77 cb750 pistons in my cb650 with a stock(aftermarket) head gasket.

Call cometic. They have part numbers for what you need. I just bought one for my 60mm 550 overbore project. They just need a couple days lead time.

Cometic part # H0516SP2059F works for a 61mm bore.
