I have a shop manual but it just says to use the float-setting guage which I don't have. Anyone know some actual measurements. The manual shows measurement from float bottom to what looks like the lip of the carb. But whatever. If I had some actual specs, I could build the guage.

26mm - you have to tip the carbs on their side and move them so the float just sets on the needle valve.  Then you take the measurement from the bottom of the float to the bottom of the carb body.  Below is a pic of the one I made from a floppy disk.

Yes, 26mm and the concensus seem to be that the measurement is taken at the edge of the flange on the float bowl mating surface, not the gasket surface.

Use the search page and enter "float gauge", many have made their own quite easily!  Several threads have pics and instructions.
