« on: April 13, 2009, 10:55:20 AM »
Hi
A friend had an overflow problem...he came to me with new floats....bike(GS550 1977) was starting fine.
I changed floats..put in correct height(26mm)like was...i put carbs back and bike does not start...
Bike has spark on plugs and gas in carbs..now they dont overflow..but does not start...
What do i have to check?

Unless thes have a fully charged battery in very good order the spark fails when you use the electric starter, i used to use a big battery and jumper cables

77 GS still had kickstart.
sounds like float level was done 'by the book' problem is, book is wrong. 26mm with carbs tilted so float arm just touches shut off valve should work. if you did it with carbs inverted the float level is going to be at least 28mm.
