spotted at the races
« on: April 15, 2009, 02:41:27 AM »
eat your heart out 500 owners (me included)

this gorgeous race frame was made in italy in the 70's by a certain LM firm, was replicated by Paton (500 twin GP racers) and now one guy in my class uses it. There's another guy who's got a big bore 500 in it and races it as a 750.

it's an open twin cradle with the strering head in featherbed style. swingarm pivot area is industrial strength.

would give an arm for one.

Enjoy and drool,

TG

What's the purpose of the covers over the wheels? If I had to guess, to keep misc. crap, particularly fluids, from contaminating the tires?

That looks nice. Personally I would mount the battery lower in the frame. There is a lot of room behind the carbs.

Very nice. Looks like it would be fun out on the track.

Hei MRieck

Long time,

would do so too but I have to say that the "empty look" in that area is pretty racy/attractive too.

Dukie, i'd say it's not just fun but also runs good, this Sicilian  guy rides it very well and got some good placings.

That's one georious bike.
How about having a copy of the frame made by Paul Brodie or someone?

not a bad idea, will need to check that it's not infringing with someone's intellectual property first.

I know the owner well and can ask but obtaining all needed measurements would require some work.

Wonder how much interest would there be in such an operation? how much does paul charge for replicating a frame?

If you can get lots of pictures and some of the critical measurements, ie: rake, swingarm location etc I'll take them to him.
I wouldn't be surprised if a custom frame cost around $2500.00 CAN though.
