Take each tappet cover off and look for oil. If you see very little oil. Squirt oil in each tappet cover try to shoot over the cam towers. You may have one last time before you do damage to cam and tower bearings. If it is smoother stop and disassemble and look for blockage.

Gordon's frame kit looks better all the time! You said you fudged the valve lash settings. Explain. Thats probably not the problem since it ran fine last time but.....

What sealer did you use and where did you use it?

I think you may have block the main oil passages. The oil goes up the center cylinder studs. There is couple of  o-rings. Look at those. Start by re moving the cam and inspect the tower bearings/ cam surface. They can take alot before they seize up as long as you pre-lubed before assembling.

Sometimes it is a learning curve.

Take photos.

Damn and it was starting to look so good too. :(
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

sealers arent allowed in my shop, not since i worked on a bmw inline 4 that had a little chunk of sealant come lose and sieze a cam, snapping the cam in 2 because of a blocked passage. tonight, once it cools down i guess it gets torn back down.

Fuzzy,

It's time for a change of heart brother. Take KG up on the offer. Really, the majority work on them more than we ride them. You've done too much at this point to cash it in. Hang in.

Ummm....that doesn't sound too good....

Can you see oil in the valve cover?

Seriously sounds like a couple valves are too loose.....least that was my impression from the video sound.

For educational purposes, what was the noise that gave it away?

Did you find what caused the blockage?

Hey I've been there.  Mine was a $900 mistake.

O-ring's right diameter but wrong thickness. Blocked the oil from getting up to the top end after the head was torqued down.

Taking it apart & fixing the problem, then reassembling gives you more understanding how they work. Don't give up.  YOU CAN DO IT.

Jeff, the oil pressure is all wrong too. Mine is 60 pounds + when cold and never below 45 hot. You know I can help.

Hey, I'm going to be in Columbia tomorrow. I'm picking up a 2009 ST1300 ABS. Want to grab some lunch?

Fuzzy...I'll get it shipped out to you monday. Rode the 400 to the shop today.

Could you give us the whole history of the Engine?

You'll have some disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly to do before the parts get there....you need to get the metal bits out and check the bearings.....

it's the bottom end of a k5 motor, with an f0 head and cam. i got the top end off last night and pulled the oil pan and cleaned it and the oil filter out. bearings looked ok.
