What bar end mirrors are you guys running/recommend?
« on: April 29, 2009, 09:45:46 PM »
I've been thinking of installing bar end mirrors on my 76 cb550F cause I figure I might be able to gain more visibility, and for the cool factor too. I know there are two styles: the round and the square-ish. Just curious which ones you guys have decided on, how they look on your bars (show em off! ;) ), what manufacturers and how much? And what your experience has been with them for visibility.

These are my bars that I want to put them on... but am contemplating drag bars or clubman

I've got the same ones. You can see behind you, but not well enough tell if it's a cop or not though.  ;D

Napoleon are the best I've found. Highest quality and they don't vibrate very much.

Is that a brand or a style? How much they run?

I really like the round convex ones .... perfect vision all around behind you ... you just need to get used to the distance reference, the vehicles look smaller in the mirror but the full view is worth it to me.  Lot's of the same cheap ones on Ebay, otherwise the CRG Hindsight brand is good .... they also offer small 2" versions like I used on my CR's and Cafe's.

I'm considering the small round bar ends as well.  How are the cheap rounds for not vibrating so bad they are unusable?

I've run those napoleons on another bike, I liked them above my hands, just had to tuck a quick arm in to see right behind you.

I used the small round ones - dont vibrate even at highway speed (85 mph) and you can see clearly. Were only $34 from Ebay. However I ended up taking them off as they stuck out too much.

good luck
Andy

Ditto as others have said, perfectly clear ... even the cheap ones .... and the ones I bought a few month's ago seem pretty well made, better than I expected having always used hindsights in the past.

I have the 3" round ones on my bike with drag bars! Work gret look awsome! Only thing I didn't like about it is with the drag bars I had to move the speedo and tach. The brake line ended up in the way of the gauges!  I have pics in a thred I posted 2 weeks ago. Not great pics but I'm still playing around with the bike!
Search and you should find them if not ill send you a link soon!
guess who?

I like! We would need the 22mm ends for our bikes, no?

oooh yeah those are nice... thanks for all the response thus far. I have to say, I was kind of partial to the square ones, but now am thinking round. I'll have to see if I will have to move my grips at all. Does anyone have pics of the Napoleans?

These aren't mirrors, but check out these bar end LED indicators... kinda cool

I actually think they look better with the big ends on the inside.  I would hit something with the big ends on the outside.  ;)

I`m rockin cheapies

It (only have one mounted right now) started to move while riding and vibrated/blurred pretty bad, a rubber stopper & some JB weld has made it sturdy and useable.

In the past i had the small round bar end mirrors.  the visibility was good and no vibration.
However i recently switched to the square bar end because i like the look of them, but the almost vibrate so much it distorts what you see in the mirror............
