Caught! 138MPH in a 65 MPH zone.
« on: May 10, 2009, 01:56:07 PM »
Well, well weel,

see article below:

http://www.reformer.com/ci_12333058

seems to me the Vermont State police should have a test track somewhere to run these high speed cars to know how they handle.

What do you think?

Yah, usually the troopers know where each other is sitting for radar.  It is sort of weird that one cop would pull over another.  Maybe it was a veteran vs newbie thing???

i left a comment under the story, but the meat of it was this............when i used to live in connecticut, we'd leave work on a friday night to go up to stowe to ski, i've  hit 140+ on that same stretch of 91 back when i drove a 914-6, he just had the bad luck to be caught. 91 north of andover was the best highway "speedway" i've ever driven. got pulled over once in all my years of driving up there and that was in the pinto with a 351w in it.

well it's good to know that the rules apply to all in VT. I agree though that cops should have some track time to keep their skills up. My friend Spike was a sergeant in a neighboring town, and his town paid for his high performance training at Lime Rock.

While 91 and 89 are both big wide roads that can be traveled quickly, there's too many LEOs on those routes to hit that kind of speed regularly these days without getting pulled over.

Here in my town, Rockingham, Vt. a local postal delivery clerk driving her own car recieved a ticket from the Bellows Falls PD for not being behind the steering wheel while delivering mail. (as you probably know, the delivery person is a contractor, not a Postal employee) I know she fought it, but don't know if she won.

I have witnessed a few cops in a local city drag racing then bragging about beating the other guy with the chief, 120mph in a 40mph 4 lane street. The poi;nt? I think maybe someone had an issue with the driver of the unmarked Dodge Charger in the article.
peace,
michel

I-91 north from p-h truckstop Wells river to Barnet VT exit has a serious long straight downhill that begs for speed. It does have a u-turn for LEOs but mostly its used for plows. My father says he can here the Crotchrockets from the otherside of the river going who knows how fast But ill bet its well above 138! Ive been in cars at near that speed in High School Down that hill. Wouldnt want to hit a Swamp Donkey at that speed!! Although a slammed Crotchrocket might have enough clearance under one if was real big.

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.
