Rubber coated steel base gasket
« on: May 22, 2009, 05:01:47 PM »
Anyone tried one of these yet? I was planning on a thin copper base gasket for an engine in the works, but like the sound of this.

It would be nice to know how they hold up on disassembly especially. Probably not good....advantage copper.

Reasonably priced though.

I've used the Cometic's Brent and have had good luck with them. The last one I used was a .010 for my FJ

Thanks Mike, I may go this route. It should seal well, I just wonder whether or not the rubber will stick to the mating surfaces on tear down.

It may stick a little but I've torn them down....it only takes a green Scotchpad and brake cleaner to remove the residue

Good deal, they're available in several different thicknesses so that's good too.

By the way Mike, check your e-mail if you please.
