Order of NOS parts camer in today. Just bolts, nuts, washer, exhaust studs, ect... The stuff from the hard ware store is always the wrong size. A honda bolt that takes a 12mm wrench is a 13mm from the hardware store. I hate it. Anyway Im back from vacation and Im going to go full steam a head to try and finish this bike...as well as my bigbore CB125.

Well. I have been doing the wiring the last few days. I started with the Electronic ignition, and then the regulator and rectifier. Then it was on to the Ignition/key switch, coils, blinkers, headlight, kill switch and the speedo/tach with dummy lights. I am almost there!

After that i have to put the oil pan on to button up the motor and then do all the valves and timing stuff. Oh! and put oil in.
Not trying to start a debate but should i use semi synthetic? What are you guys that build race bikes putting in your fresh motors?



Built a coil mounting plate.

This is the mesh expandable cable wrap im using. I like it, looks pretty clean.

Lots of wires. The Key is an On/OFF/ACC/START switch so it has a temporary switch to use for the starter like a car.


Everything should tuck nicely above the coil.

Wire diagrams, Honda manual, Dyna 2000 and Acewell speedo.


OH and now that i think about it i still have to pull wire for my tail light and the switch for the brake. Im going to use a taillight from custom dynamics. Going to mount it under the tail in the back.

looking good. So you decided to make your own harness? I have been debating doing this or just getting one of the $100 harness from Vintage CB750. I have never made a harness. I am more than capable its just the making sure I made it RIGHT thats the hard part...lol.

I have used Redline oil in TAO but recently switched to Amsoil 20-50. Works for me. I will probably use this in the K4 as well. I am curious to see what you decide to use. I don't know why people get so upset with the oil debate. Its pretty important and I like to see what others like to use.

I didnt have a choice on the wire harness. Nothing as far as electrical on the bike is original except the stator and rotor. This is my first ground up harness so im sure i will find more efficient ways to do it as i go. I did take one short cut that i may have to change. To cut down on the amount of wires running front to back i ran the Blinkers in series rather then parallel. They are LED so they dont take much voltage and i figured the drop from one wont really mess with the other. I did have to order an LED blinker relay.

Its a cannon XSI with a 10-22mm lens. Its my favorite lens. Its much easier to use the cell phone but the pictures dont look as good.

Building a custom wiring harness takes some pretty serious dedication. Good work. Looks like you might have a pretty tight squeeze around the front tank mounts though.

Looking good fj, nice to see it getting closer to finished.  Re oil, I use a regular motorcycle oil for the break-in, then dump it (and filter) and go to a synthetic.

Its always something. I ordered some 90° arms



Then when i was finishing up the wiring and checking the blinkers, 1 of them was shorting out. So once i tracked it down and took it apart (their sealed LEDs), insulated the part that i think was rubbing and the super glued it back together, all was good. I might hang the exhaust tomorrow, stay tuned.

I think 35 degrees is a reasonable advance ... assuming you're talking about max total advance and not base timing.  :o

I tried bending it more to clear the carbs now that i have them in place but it aint going to work. Think im going to have to cut the bungs off and weld in new ones. I have an email into the tank builder. See what he says.

I contacted the guy who made the tank and he was going to ship me some new bungs to weld in as well as 2 different petcocks that i found that might be a lower profile. Then he said i could try bending them buy putting a screwdriver in the bung and pry it a little to flex the bottom of the tank. So i gave it a try. It moved much easier then i expected and now i have the clearance for the fuel line.! Made my day. I dont really like the angle its at but its better then having to cut it off, patch it up, and then drill and weld in a new bung.
