A fine "Howdy Do"
« on: May 28, 2009, 05:55:44 AM »
Well I just got some great news, NOT.  I have got caught in the Gov't cutbacks in education. >:(  I will be unemployed after almost 11 years of working here as an IS Technical Support level one at the end of August.  40 years old and will have to start at the bottom of the food chain again.

Any body know of any IS jobs around?  Will work for bike parts :D

Oof, that's a pisser indeed.  Sorry, don't have any leads for you - but, at the risk of being annoyingly optimistic, sometimes these things are for the best.  11 years in a job is a long time.  It can be good to shake it up a bit and get into a new situation.  Good luck finding that new opportunity that will have you saying "Thank GOD they fired me!"  :)

You might want to find another field for a bit.
IT and IS is flooded with laid off people for the time being.

I'm am looking into other options.  I am a competent woodworker, as well as a not so bad classic motorcycle mechanic ;).  The big problem is that I was not the easiest on the body when I was younger and the joints are starting to get cosy with Arther.  I have enough sick time and vacation to cover from now till the end of August, so might become "Stressed Out" over loosing the job and be out on sick leave.

There is no ill wind that doesn't blow at least a little good.
