Finally got my old CB650 on the road......handles great, sounds great, now if i could quit riding it i might finish up a couple details.








Ridin' the hell out of it and happy as a clam....

Are those unbaffled drag pipes?  If so, how does it sound?  Got a video?

Yup....straight pipes. Kinda loud when ya get on it but not too bad. Got real good throttle response with the dynojet kit.

Crappy vid but all I got for now.....my online access is a little limited these days but I'll be getting a better vid.

Sounds mean.  That's the way I like it. 

Like Martino said, I too would like to see more pics of the build process.  Do you have a speedo and tach on there?  I don't see them if you do.  I'm also curious about the thing over the headlight.  Way cool!

Thanks again....here's a shot of the seat...



Jigbuilt frame with tons of fab stuff....the tank is a sporty as is the headlight, the rear fender is a generic unit that has been reradiused. Everything else is garagebuilt including the seat.

yeah...that was stock jetting with an exhaust leak I think. Installed a dynojet kit and after the final build (bench synced) it's running much better with no backfire. Logged about 500 miles so far....seems good.

No tach or speedo....gonna rig a little gps unit for when I'm worried about it.

The headlight is off an '88 sportster...the visor is integral.

Cool bike and looks a lot of fun, I see you call it a chopper, I'd call such a radical rebuild a bobber?
Anyhow it looks and sounds great, nice to see the 650 motor getting some long awaited attention, you know our bikes are the lepers of the SOHC4 brigade eh. ;D

That is just bad ass, I love it.


I ran open pipes for awhile, Liked it at first but it got annoying. They were 4-4 stockers that rusted out under the footpegs.

Great looking bike.

If you don't mind I might steal the look.  I just picked up a hardtail frame and I have a 77F parts bike.  If I'm lucky it will look half as good!

That is beautiful!!!!!! I have an '81 that I would love to do something like that to. Currently I am playing with looks, maybe just extending the swingarm somehow. I don't have the skills to do what you did.

man if you decide to not use the stocker controls anymore there is a guy on ebay who makes some badass cb650 formard controls that look awesome. i would get them myself but im attempting to do a resto on my bike

It is alot of fun to ride too. Mind you with such a long WB stretch and a longish trail it tends to require a little attention in crosswinds or semi truck buffeting. when shoved sideways it tends to stay offline unlike something with less trail which to my experience tends to unconsciously self correct...if that makes any sense.

Low, mean, and simple...I LOVE it. Great job...good inspiration for my eventual Hard tail CB750 build...

Or a friend of mine has a CB650 that be fun to modify hehe.
