Topic: Another Sandblasting question

When sandblasting a frame, do you somehow tape off the VIN tag and do the area around it by hand or do you drill out the rivrts? If the rivets are drilled out are there replacements availale?

You can do either....

I generally remove the tag and rivet it back on. Any hardware store has them.

I drilled them out.....

I generally replace them with a pop rivet.

Did you guys ever try chemical stripper on the frame vs. sand blasting? The Chemical stripping doesn't work very well on the motor clear coat... for me anyway..

chemical is way messy. just take it to a good sandblaster and they will use the right stuff and should be clean when you get it back.
