Explaining to my wife why the garage smells like gas...
« on: June 03, 2009, 01:08:53 PM »
Wifey: "Art, why does the garage always smell like gas?"

Me: "It could be a number of things, gas containers, string trimmers, leaf blower, motorcycle, etc."

Wifey: "But your old motorcycles never smelled like that."

Me: "My old motorcycles were fuel injected, my Hot Rod has carbs and the gas sits in the bowls which are vented to the atmosphere, which allows the gas vapors to escape."

Wifey: "You should sell that motorcycle and buy a new one."

Me: "Bite your tongue woman, or I'll sell you."  ;D

I had a leaking float bowl drain on the mower and my wife always says in her complaining tone "I smell gas" and I say "Yeah, no #$%*.(like I can't smell it) Maybe I should buy a new mower". I tell her "your powers of observation are miraculous". Left it outside overnight until the remainder of gas had leaked out. Went to the mower shop to get a gasket for the bowl. Of course they don't have and they will order a whole kit and call me when it's in. Screw that. I took a business card and made a gasket. You'd think she'd say "I DON'T smell gas anymore" but no. Sometimes they just don't get it.   :D

No stories lately about the hot rod?? How's it doing? Seaweb is almost finished with his garage and bike. Been kinda boooorrring lately.

Awww seaweb, that must have been a trying time. I feel for you. Most of my kids left my bikes alone for the most part.

Wife won't let me bring my cb550 into the living room anymore, so I had to buy a house with a detachec garage.  :o

Hey, be nice.  She's thinking that she's giving you permission to *upgrade* to a new bike.

With my X such a statement would inevitably be followed by a massive credit card bill for her clothes & shoes.  I guess she felt that if she could get me to spend too much money, I couldn't be mad at her for spending too much money.

I never did buy that Ducati I wanted while I was married.  Maybe I will as soon as my alimony is finished. Then whose money is she going to spend?  Woo hoo!

I had that complaint once or twice from the wife....

AS far as mowers go...

I came home from a trip once to find the mower on the back deck.

Thinking that odd...I walked out and pushed it top the shed.

Upon opening the shed....there sat a very new looking Red Mower....

Hmmm....

Me: Ummm.....who's mower is that in the shed?

Wife: I bought a new one.....its ours.

Me: why?

Wife: The old one broke.

Me: what exactly about the old one is broke?

Wife: the cable.

Me: what cable broke?

Wife: the pully thingie you start it with.

I bought a new pull cord. It was $1.99 handle included...because she threw the old one away.

She mows her lawn with the shiney red mower......

I mow MY lawn with the old one with a new cord......

I like my new house better.... ;D

First off:  You guys kill me.  I laugh everytime I am on this site.  Thanks for the fun times.

Second, the Hot Rod is running well, had it out for a charity ride this past Sunday.  We rode to raise money for Camp Cadet, a local summer camp for at risk youth that is run by law enforcement.  I rode with local police and PA state police.  Most of them on their H-Ds a few on sport bikes.  They all complemented the Hot Rod, loved how it sounded and said that they heard it coming from two miles away on the by-pass. ;D  The ride was a classic cruise, but I had the chance to chase down a trooper on his Triumph ST 955.  I was worried that they would just ride the speed limit, but heck they are normal guys on fast bikes, so we pushed the limit a few times.  The weather was perfect, low 60s and the Hot Rod loves cool air.  I ran a rolling 1/4 mile to a ridiculous speed and almost caught the ST, but I didn't want to pass him a get a ticket. ;)

Well I just tell Martha that everyone I know has a garage that smells the same as ours, when she asks me the gas question.
Heck it's a garage, what's it supposed to smell like, home cooking?
