A Nice Read,

An enjoyable article....... somewhat nuts, but then, off center things have a certain unique appeal to me.

Still, got to admit that I am too old shcool...... I will take the Vincent Black Shadow.

As a side note, I saw at the bottom of the page........ they are on Verdugo Road in Glendale...... many years ago, early '50s, I lived on Verdugo Road in Glendale....... how ironic.

Thompson was indeed somewhat nuts. And I agree, I would also take the Vincent. I can't get over the look of the older bikes.

Just For Reference,

Not necessarily everyone will know what a Vincent looks like....... some brief samples...... Note the closeup on the speedo...... 150 in, what, the 1940's........?! If you wanted your sprockets and chain on the left side of the bike or the right side of the bike, Vincents came with extra parts so that you could configure as you preferred....

Its not so you can pick the side you want the drive on, its a change of gearing..

Hi,

Yes, the 1st picture of a Vincent does look like a strange
mix-n-match.

The first picture in my above post is the Vincent Black Prince...... Vincent only made 44 of them.  It was supposed to be their "touring" model.  I think Vincent was just getting desperate because sales were dropping, but then the sales of all English bikes were dropping.  I don't know why they thought a touring model of what was really a speed demon bike would make the grade as a touring model.  The last I heard, their price is somewhere above $100,000 smackers...... how far above I don't know.

The second picture of the handlebar area, I believe is "simply" a Vincent HRD, again, last I heard for those models, a measly $40,000 smackers or thereabouts...... ;)

How I dream and fantasise about these bikes........ If only I were rich.......
