I love that tank and tail section.  Put some taller shocks on there and it will really look the part.

I have finally gotten back around to messing with this project.

I built a frame to hold the battery and support the new tail.

I settled on a cbr 600rr tail section and seat. They are small and fit with the tank. I had made a tail out of the old tank but it just did not look good having a rounded tail. I used some plastic to mount the non-functional passenger seat. I will probably replace the seat with a shell.

The seat pan fit very nice.

With a hole for the seat to clip and a few rubber knobs the seat is mounted.

I have moved all the electric under the tank. I have a tail light and blinkers ready to mount. I want to have the bike back on the road by spring so more updates should be coming.

I laid the base down this weekend and popped the tank on the bike for a look see. Will be putting a clear on it soon.

I need to find some nice shocks to replace these. They are toast. I am thinking about moving the pegs too.

I Love it! This is not a bad idea for replacing my dented and scratched 500 tank.  I wonder what other bikes tanks would fit....

Wow! Looks good, but Is there anything on that bike except the engine and carbs that is actually from a SOHC CB?

I got some polish on the tank. I think I will have to shoot it one more time. The paint is a little thin along the bottom of the tank. I have not made up my mind on if I will clear coat it or not.

I modified a shock I had and mounted it.

Very cool. I wonder if painting the relief at the back of the tank that would have been covered by the stock seat black would make it blend nicely with the seat setup you have.

This has been a hot topic at the shop.

We have 2 camps one paint it black. The other camp make is for making a plastic backing to form a leather pad to fit over the relief.

We all agree if painted I should use a bed liner.

Looks cool.

I think paint the relief black no matter what, the tabs at the bottom are not supposed to be visible so they screw with the nice lines of the bike.
